Business Health Check:
A Business
Health Check is an intense, short duration review of the
critical processes involved in a business or within an
identified area of the business. It’s the sole aim is to
identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and
effectiveness of the business.
From our initial discussions with potential clients it is
usually simple to identify a few areas of their business that
could be improved. Often these obvious targets are just the
results of other issues that remain hidden from view. In this
way any improvement programme designed to eliminate the
apparent problem will have only limited success and will not
be the optimum solution.
To identify the underlying issues in a business we have found
that a relatively short, but thorough audit may reveal
numerous opportunities for increased profits and/or reduced
costs and overheads. Such an audit will expose the underlying
issues and ensure that any proposed solutions provide the best
overall value for money.
Our systematic approach to these health checks also ensure
that, both, our charges and any disruption to your business
are kept to a minimum. The key objectives are to identify the
following
The Health Check
provides a brief but intensive diagnostic study of the
business. The level of effort required to carry out this
process will depend on the size and complexity of the business
and the overall scope of the Check.
The approach is structured but sufficiently general to be
applied to a whole business or identified parts within it.
When tackling an entire business the review will try to
include all area of the organization and a range of different
levels in order to identify differences in viewpoint and
perceptions which are frequently the sources of issues and
hold the potential for major improvements.

The process is split into three main phases,
Data gathering: Review of
records/history, interview of staff, observation of
processes and operation etc.
Analysis: Detailed
analysis of data may include financial, statistical
modelling. SWOT analysis etc.
Presentation of results:
Verbal presentation explaining the process and
giving a summary of the results and providing
recommendations.
Option: A written report
of the audit can be provided at an additional cost.
Health Checks can be specifically targeted to tackle
a single area of the business or restricted range of
topics. Such and approach will allow the analysts to
delve deeper into the issues and hence provide a
much more detailed review.
